Target Audience
Anfeald’s Aerial Lift and Scissor Lift Operator (Elevating Work Platform) Training course, AER 301, is for learners who will operate aerial lifts (articulating and/or telescoping boom lifts) and/or scissor lifts (aka elevating work platforms) in construction or general industry settings or during service work.
Summary
The instructor will complete a classroom session followed by hands-on practice and skill evaluations. The classroom portion covers safe operation principles, center of gravity, driving, working on uneven ground, fall protection requirements and options, pre use inspections, and other topics. Learners will take turns operating the lift while the instructor observes. These observations typically include general operations along with the completion of other tasks common to operations. The instructor will provide constructive feedback to help improve skills.
Additional practical sessions are often required, especially for inexperienced operators. Anfeald will provide additional practical training and observation sessions if learners require additional training time or course-size necessitates this. Additional training and observation time is scheduled with you after the course, when needed.

*Certification is at the sole discretion of the instructor and is valid only for observations made during training. While Anfeald endeavors to certify all learners, participant behavior, operational skill, unsafe behavior and other factors may preclude certification for some learners during the session – Anfeald will only certify safe, skilled operators. The Anfeald instructor will notify the client contact if he or she observes unsafe behavior or insufficient skill, and is unable to certify learners without additional practice.
Facility, Classroom, and Other Needs
Facility, classroom, and equipment needs:
- Comfortable seating, table space, and writing materials for each learner
- Sufficient space considering the anticipated headcount
- Display screen with HDMI input or screen and projector (let us know in advance if we need to bring a projector and screen)
- Equipment in good working order and safe to operate, of the same type employee will operate during normal work*
- Space for equipment operations and evaluations**
- Cones and pallets to set up a “course”
*The quantity of available equipment directly impacts the available practice time.
**The provided space must be the same or similar to anticipated use conditions. Anfeald can make adjustments for clients who do not have a classroom and practice area in the same location. We can facilitate the classroom portion in one location and travel to a nearby practice area, or we can split the classroom and in-person practice so they occur on different days. We can also complete the classroom portion virtually. When these options are necessary, additional fees apply – Please let us know when you book the course.
If your circumstances involve outdoor use, scheduling is dependent on weather. Anfeald is unable to complete training in extreme weather including high wind, driving rain, lightning, snow, and snow/ice buildup in surfaces. Last minute cancellations are possible in these circumstances.
