Target Audience
Anfeald’s Electrical Safety Program Management for Safety Professionals, ELE 505, is for safety professionals who manage load-side electrical safety and hazardous energy control programs for their organizations, who need or want specific education and training on protecting qualified workers from electrical hazards for work on systems that operate at or above 50-volts and up to but less than 600-volts nominal.
Summary
This is a professional development course specifically designed for safety professionals, frontline leaders, and other roles involved in electrical safety program management. It covers the identification and evaluation of shock and arc flash hazards, general electrical safety requirements and best practices for program management, safe work practices including energized electrical work permits, other administrative controls, personal protective equipment, and related topics, for workplaces described in NFPA 70E 2024 90.3(A). It is designed to help safety professionals and others appropriately develop, implement, support, and sustain electrical safety programs.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, learners will:
- List and summarize the necessary steps for electrical safety program implementation and common implementation barriers
- Describe the minimum host-employer requirements for electrical safety from NFPA 70E and regulations
- Summarize the impact of electrical equipment “condition of maintenance” on safety
- Describe how electrical shock and arc flashes occur and the damage they each create
- Describe the core concepts that protect personnel from electrical shock and arc-flash hazards
- Articulate what makes an employee qualified or not, and the necessary steps to ensure that your team’s qualifications are real through the development and implementation of comprehensive education, training, and skill verification
- Demonstrate how to identify and evaluate electrical shock and arc flash hazards including how to read and interpret NFPA 70E tables to complete shock and arc-flash risk assessments and select the appropriate rubber insulating PPE and arc-rated PPE using the PPE category (table method) and the incident energy method
- Describe how to use, and store PPE, and how to recertify rubber insulating PPE
- Describe how to properly wear arc-rated PPE to meet the PPE category requirements
- Recognize and avoid or abate common electrical hazards in the workplace including temporary electrical
