Target Audience
Anfeald’s Instructor Development Course for Hazardous Energy Control / Lockout-Tagout, IDC 703, is for instructor-trainees who train or will train and educate employees on workplace safety and occupational health topics, who need knowledge and skills in adult learning concepts and practices, together with additional education on the control of hazardous energy regulations and best practices. It covers adult education concepts with practical instructional skill development, and important technical aspects of hazardous energy control.
Summary
This course covers adult learning concepts and their practical application. This includes a combination of interactive lectures, games, knowledge checks, and a comprehensive test. Instructor-trainees will prove training and education skill by independently preparing and delivering a short lesson on an instructor-specified concept. This course also includes a deep dive into regulations, requirements, and core concepts of lockout-tagout.
It requires a willingness to work towards topic mastery and it is a “pass” or “attend” class. To earn a certificate of completion, successful learners must have prior experience and training in the indicated topic, pass a written test proving mastery, and complete a teach-back. Those who do not pass the test or do not successfully complete the teach-back will earn a certificate of attendance.
It will help instructor-trainees develop instructional ability, but it is not a certification course per se – Instructional ability is based on a combination of technical topical knowledge, practical experience, and skill speaking in front of groups.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, learners will:
- Explain common needs of adult learners
- Explain and demonstrate proven and practical adult learning theories, concepts, and their applications
