Target Audience
Anfeald’s Powered Industrial Truck Instructor Development course, PIT 701, is for designated individuals within an organization, who have at least one-year of recent and safe PIT-operator experience, who will provide in-house PIT classroom training, practical training, perform operator evaluations, and certify other in-house operators.
Summary
Learners will learn about the regulation, methods of instruction, and related topics. Learners must demonstrate the ability to facilitate training by completing teach-backs to the instructor, and each other, complete evaluations of each other’s performance, and complete a written test. This course is designed to help learners develop instructional ability, but it is not a certification course – Instructional ability is based on a combination of knowledge, experience, and skill speaking in front of groups.
When Anfeald must return to the site for observations and evaluations or additional instruction, an additional hourly rate applies as indicated in the proposal.
Covers powered industrial trucks in the following classes: Includes the following classes: I, II, II, IV, V, and VII. Excludes class VI and earthmoving equipment. Refer to Federal OSHA’s Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklift) eTool for details on PIT types.
Includes the following items for future use: (i) Training presentation in MS PowerPoint, (ii) Certificate (.docx), (iii) Certification cards for Avery template (.docx), (iv) Example PIT inspection form.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, learners will:
- Define the center of gravity, load’s center of gravity, combined center of gravity, static, and dynamic load stability
- Demonstrate how to estimate load weights, identify PIT capacity, and adjust PIT capacity based on different load centers
- Demonstrate their PIT and instructional knowledge by completing a written test on powered industrial truck regulatory and practical knowledge
- Demonstrate a documented PIT pre-use inspection to others in the class
- Demonstrate setting up a PIT course and practice maneuvers of the same type used in operator trainings
- Facilitate a brief instructional presentation to others in the class, on an instructor-provided topic
Facility, Classroom, and Other Needs
Facility, classroom, and equipment needs:
- Comfortable seating, table space, and writing materials for each learner
- Sufficient space considering the anticipated headcount
- Display screen with HDMI input or screen and projector (let us know in advance if we need to bring a projector and screen)
- Learners need a laptop with MS PowerPoint to review training materials and complete one or more teach backs. Includes copies of a training PowerPoint, a forklift evaluation form, a forklift inspection form, and templates for cards and certificates.
- Anfeald can only train learners on the types of equipment that are present at the time of course. Verify equipment availability for the day of course. Training can include all classes of forklifts, including telehandlers, however, Federal OSHA does not include skid-steers with forklift attachments in the powered industrial truck classification.
- Client’s Equipment Must be Available and Safe. This training is at your site and on your equipment. Always verify that your equipment is charged, fueled, inspected, data plates are legible, and all safety features properly function. Anfeald instructors will not train personnel on unsafe equipment. Inability to train due to unsafe equipment may result in course cancellation and/or additional fees. The number of available PITs will impact course length.
