Who Is It For

Anfeald’s Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) First Responder Awareness class, HAZ 900, is for participants who likely to discover a hazardous materials release and must notify emergency responders but will never participate in defensive or offensive operations nor will they have exposure to chemical hazards.

This is the minimum level of HAZWOPER training available. It applies whenever the employer stores and uses chemicals and when personnel may discover a release but not perform any defensive, mitigative, or cleanup work. It covers basic emergency response procedures that include what hazardous materials are, the risks associated with hazardous materials in the event of an emergency, them in an incident, the potential outcomes associated of a hazardous material incident, how to recognize the presence of hazardous materials in an emergency, how to identify released  hazardous materials, an understanding of the first responder awareness role including site security and control, use of the  U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Response Guidebook, the ability to realize the need for additional resources, and to make appropriate notifications.
