Who Is It For
Anfeald’s Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Hazardous Materials Technician Initial 24-hour class, HAZ 901, is for participants who likely to discover a hazardous materials release and participate in both defensive and offensive clean-up activities that include stopping the release at its source and conducting all related operations. Hazmat technicians are directly exposed to chemical hazards and wear chemical protective clothing.
This class prepares participants to decisively mitigate chemical releases on an emergency basis, without regard to location. It includes key information from OSHA’s Hazard Communication regulation, chemical properties, chemical hazards, basic toxicology concepts, basic fire and explosion safety concepts, selecting and properly using chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection, decontamination, zoning, incident command system, and many other topics. The class features hands-on activities using client’s or Anfeald’s equipment, though a proper response requires a variety of specialized PPE and equipment – Clients are advised to purchase and make this equipment available for class to maximize the effectiveness of the class.
