WELD 201 provides participants with information on the regulations, safe work practices, and best practices associated with welding and hot-work. This class is designed for employees engaged in welding and other hot-work, and their supervisors. It is suitable for employees in many industries including but not limited to manufacturing, construction, upstream oil and gas, midstream oil and gas, and others. Topics include: hot work hazards, occupational diseases relevant to welders, compressed-gas cylinder handling, fire prevention and protection, hot work permits, fire watch and fire extinguisher use, live-fire fire-extinguisher practice, heavy-metals and coatings hazards (hexavalent chromium, lead, zinc, etc.), ventilation, respiratory protection, hot work in confined spaces, hot work at heights, and other topics. This course provides training objectives and content from relevant §1910 and §1926 regulations and includes OSHA Hazard communication for welders, NFPA 51B: Standard for Fire Prevention During Welding, Cutting and Other Hot Work, and other relevant codes.
